Saskatoon Rotary Club Projects
Saskatoon North
The North Club has two projects that they are working on. They have been involved in a short term project to provide Jaipur limbs. The North Club is also involved in a long term project in the Dominican that supports a mother/baby AIDS Project. Four other Rotary Clubs are involved in this project (NYC, Grand Rapids. St. Croix a club in the Dominican. They are hoping that this will lead to a Friendship Exchange.
Saskatoon Riverside
Riverside is a small club and that they have combined their efforts with the Saskatoon Club to help fund an orphanage project in Mexico. They have also been involved in micro credit program to provide cows to Uganda. They have also been involved in supporting the Malaria Nets Project.
Saskatoon Meewasin
A representative from Meewasin is presently in Kenya attending the opening of a school that they have supported through the Kip Keino Project.
Saskatoon Rotary
The Saskatoon Club has been partnering with Riverside to fund an orphanage project in Mexico. In addition to the Mexico project they have been supporting orphans in Guatemala and are assisting with repairs from the recent mudslides. They have developed a relationship with the clubs in Guatemala and have made some contacts there. They have also been working with a project in Northern Brazil to help get girls out of prostitution. They have been involved in an irrigation project in Zambia and hope to work with the clubs there in the future. They have funds set aside for a Water Project in the Caribbean and are hoping to explore opportunities with the Ripple Effect Project.
Nutana Rotary
Nutana has been involved in a number of projects. The ALMA Project in Mexio (Seniors Housing) has been completed. Money has been raised to send a container load of wheelchairs to Nepal and they are working with the Kathmandu West and Kathmandu Metro Clubs. Severa thousand dollars has been raised to support a day care program in South Africa. This project arose from a Friendship Exchange last year. They are interested in supporting an agriculture project in Tanzania. This is a project that was started in Brandon at the Assiniboine College and has been supported by Minnedosa. A member from the North Club is there visiting at the moment and they are hoping to hear more about it on her return.
